These terms govern your use of Life Ring. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.

The service
Life Ring keeps a private copy of the contacts you choose to back up and lets you reach them from another device if your phone is lost, dead, or gone. Recovery is device-independent and is helped by the trusted people (“lifelines”) you designate.
Your account
You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and be responsible for activity on your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction.
Lifelines & your responsibilities
- You send lifeline invitations yourself, from your own phone, and only to people who agreed to be your lifeline.
- You will only back up contact information you are entitled to store.
- You will not use Life Ring to harass, impersonate, or contact people without their consent.
Text messages (SMS)
You send lifeline invitations yourself, from your own phone — Life Ring does not send them. If you start a recovery, you authorize Life Ring to send a one-time recovery alert to the lifelines who accepted your invitation, as described in our Privacy Policy. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Recipients can reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. We do not send marketing texts.
Payment
Life Ring is offered as a subscription described at the point of purchase (currently $19/year). You can cancel anytime; cancellation stops future renewals. For the pilot, organization purchases may be invoiced and provisioned manually.
Acceptable use
Don’t misuse the service: no unlawful use, no attempts to break security or access another user’s data, no interference with the recovery or lifeline systems.
Disclaimers & liability
Life Ring is provided “as is.” We work to keep recovery available and secure, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted service. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited as set out here. [Counsel to finalize limitation-of-liability + warranty language.]
Termination
You can stop using Life Ring and delete your account at any time, which permanently erases your backed-up contacts. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
Changes
We may update these terms and will revise the “last updated” date above.
